We currently have one Old English Sheepdog ~ Murphy
(dark head), affectionately known as "Urf". Murphy is 13 years old.
The picture above also shows BJ (white head) who passed away at the
age of 14 1/2 in September of 2000. We adopted BJ when she was 2,
and it was one of the best things we ever did. Although we were her second
family, we would be her forever family.
We
decided when BJ was 9 that she needed a companion and playmate to keep
her company. While BJ did not agree at first that this was a "wonderful"
idea, she and Murphy became very close and spent much of their time together
by choice.
BJ's
favourite things in life were truck rides and a little orange squeaky toy
that looks like an orange fruit with hands and legs. Murphy doesn't play
with toys, her passion is cookies, ice cream and has learned to pick berries
off of the fruit trees. Murphy came from New Brunswick, Canada and
BJ is originally from Kansas, USA.
I have
a great appreciation for sheepdogs as they are loving, loyal companions
and are quite protective of their family. They are gentle and wonderful
with my cats and patient with children. Definitely a great family dog! |
